About Pottery Pirate Studio

Welcome to Pottery Pirate Studio—where authentic Mexican Talavera folk art, original handcrafted ceramics, and a bit of island studio energy come together.

How It Started: Curation Meets Creation

Pottery Pirate set sail with a passion for searching out and curating unique, authentic Mexican Talavera folk art. As collectors and friends fell in love with these vibrant pieces, they frequently asked: "Did the Captain make these?"

While the Captain loves and appreciates traditional Talavera, that centuries-old Mexican art form belongs to the skilled artisans who master it. Inspired by the love for ceramics, the Captain decided to build an original studio practice alongside the curated folk art.

To bring new ideas to life, the Captain learned the craft of mold-making and liquid clay slip casting. Today, Pottery Pirate Studio proudly offers a blend of hand-selected, authentic Talavera ceramics alongside our own original, small-batch studio creations.

The Studio Crew

  • The Captain (Artist, Potter & Curator): Sourcing authentic Talavera folk art, pouring plaster molds, casting slip, and painting original studio designs.

  • Pigsly (Official Studio Supervisor): The true boss of the operation. Pigsly keeps an eye on daily studio workflow and enforces mandatory nap times.

  • Our Digital First Mate: Smart AI tools handle background tasks like catalog formatting and photo cleanup so the studio stays focused on the clay and curation.
