Sometimes the best parts of a journey are the unexpected detours.

A while back, I was sitting at the computer trying to figure out a new visual identity for the business. I knew I wanted something that captured the vibrant, island-ready vibe of Mexican Folk Art, so I typed a simple prompt into an AI image generator: Create a logo with a Talavera-style pig.

I expected a few neat geometric patterns. Instead, the screen blinked, and out popped this dapper, swaggering little swine wearing a pirate tricorn hat. It wasn't just a logo—it was a character with a soul. I fell in love instantly and declared him the official face of the Pottery Pirate.

But as a slip cast artist, you know I can't just leave him trapped behind a glass screen. A digital logo isn't enough. He needs to exist in the real world. He needs to feel the clay.

So, the hunt began. I managed to track down the perfect 7-inch manufacturing mold to bring him to life. Right now, as I write this, that mold is making its way to The Pink Pearl.

The liquid slip is mixed, the kiln is waiting, and my paintbrushes are practically twitching to bring his vibrant cobalt blue and fiery orange Talavera florals into the physical world.

He may only exist on our logo sticker for a few more days, but First Mate Pigsly is already calling the shots. Stay tuned, crew—the second that plaster mold hits the studio porch, we are cracking open the clay and bringing the captain's right-hand swine to life.
