Handcrafted ceramic pig figurine named Pigsly wearing a painted pirate eyepatch with vibrant floral glaze patterns sitting on a desk.

Out of the Belly of Cinderbeard: My First Log as First Mate 🏴‍☠️🐖

Tracy Fairchild

Oink, ahoy! Pigsly here, writing my very first official log as First Mate of the Pottery Pirate ship.

Before I earned my floral coat and eye patch, I had to survive the ultimate pirate rite of passage: The Belly of Cinderbeard (or what the Captain calls the studio kiln).

It was dark, quiet, and getting hotter by the minute inside Cinderbeard's fiery belly. At a blazing 2,000 degrees, a lesser ceramic pig might have cracked under the pressure! But I knew I had a duty to this ship. I held my ground, let the glazes melt into absolute perfection, and emerged transformed—a true, battle-tested Studio Original, hand-crafted right here in Ohio.

Now that Cinderbeard has set me free, I'm officially on watch duty alongside the Captain.

My Daily Duties on the Ship

  • Guarding the Treasure: Keeping a snout out for all the authentic Mexican Talavera floating into the studio from Dolores Hidalgo.

  • Packing Inspection: Personally overseeing our 100% Safe Delivery Guarantee. I inspect every box to make sure your ceramic treasures are wrapped up tight enough to survive any storm at sea.

  • Finding the Best Views: Testing out plant shelves, sunny windowsills, and desk setups to make sure our studio pieces look sharp everywhere.

Show Me Your Ship!

Now that I’ve braved the fire, I want to see where the rest of our treasures land. When your box arrives, snap a photo of your new piece in its new home and tag #PotteryPirateInTheWild so I can feature you in our crew gallery!
